Grand Island Pet Idol Official Rules

Submissions: October 5th to October 16th
Voting: October 18th to Oct 22nd
Winners Published: Oct 25th

1. The Grand Island Independent is a proud sponsor of the Grand Island Pet Idol contest.
2. The winners will be showcased in the Grand Island Independent and theindependent.com on October 25th.
3. Eligibility subject to the rules below. Employees of the GII are not eligible to win.
4. A suggested donation to NIE of $10 must accompany entry.
5. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund the Newspapers in Education (NIE). The goal of NIE is to promote literacy and broaden students’ local and global perspectives through the use of newspapers in the classroom.
6. Enter via internet; visit the contest page at www.theindependent.com/petidol. Complete all required information on the entry form and follow posted instructions including payment. By entering you agree to the terms of the official rules. Entries must be submitted by midnight October 16th 2009. A family may enter more than one pet. All pictures become property of GII.
7. Enter via the newspaper ad. Complete all required information on the entry form and follow posted instructions including payment. Mail entry form and copy of picture to Grand Island Independent 422 W 1st street Grand Island, Ne 68801 attn Pet Idol. Do not send original copies of pictures.
8. Entries will be accepted October 5th to October 14th.
9. The contestant(s) with the highest vote total will be the winner(s). Ties will be broken by the GII staff.
10. Declined credit card transactions will result in removal of entries and/or votes. GII will make attempts to contact the pay to get an alternate method of payment.
11. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
12. Voting is done online at www.theindependent.com/petidol. Only one vote is allowed per person.
13. Winners will be notified by phone or by email. If a winner is unreachable after (7) seven days, or if the winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment an alternate winner will be selected.
14. Entrants further grant to the GII the right to use and publish their proper name online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the contest.
15. Only one pet per photo please.
